Disable Aero Shake Shortcut

Aero Shake is a mouse shortcut that allows you to clean the clutter of open windows.  Simply shake a window with your mouse and all inactive application windows in the background will be minimized. Shake the window again and all background windows will return. Aero Shake can be helpful if you want to focus on an application but users can also accidentally activate Aero Shake.  If you don't need Aero Shake, the feature can be disabled with a registry edit.

Windows Aero Shake can be disabled with the NoWindowMinimizingShortcuts DWORD set to 1 in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer key. I have created two registry files that you can import to do all the work automatically. Simply download the Disable or Enable file below:

  • Disable Aero Shake
  • Enable Aero Shake
