Set Custom Image As Windows 7 Taskbar Background Using Taskbar Color Effects Tool

Even though you change the the taskbar color under Personalization settings, the problem is Windows doesn’t allow you set different color for taskbar, window frame and start menu. In other words, when you set a new color under Windows Color and Appearance, the same color will reflect on taskbar, window borders, and Start menu as well.

Taskbar Color Effects is another free program to customize Windows 7 taskbar. The tool lets you add color effects to the taskbar. In other words, the tool lets you set a separate color for the taskbar. The tool also lets you set a custom image as taskbar background.

Here is how to use Taskbar Color Effects:

Step 1: Download Taskbar Color Effects zip file from here and extract it to get Taskbar Color Effects.

Step 2: Run Taskbar Color Effects.exe file. Once the tool is launched and running, you will see a small icon in system tray area. Double-click on the tray icon to launch Taskbar Color Effects settings.

Under settings, select a color to set it as the new taskbar color. Use the Custom Color option to set a custom color as taskbar color.

Step 3: Check Color Transparency box to enable color transparency for taskbar. Check Enable Shadow box to add shadow effects to Windows 7 taskbar. To set an image as taskbar background, click Custom Image BG option and then browse to the image file that you want to set as taskbar background.

Step 4: Click on Save button to save the new taskbar color.

Taskbar Color Effects is a freeware and works great on both x86 and x64 versions of Windows 7.
